Nominating for any type of award is always a process fraught with agonising decision making at the best of times, but with this, the first annual AMA UK 2015 awards, it’s been doubly difficult, mainly because there is a staggeringly great depth of musical talent at loose, worldwide, within this growing genre of musical development. For what it’s worth, here are the Square Roots nominations in each category, and the reasons why we voted the way we did.
For us here at Square Roots towers, one of the unconfined joys of attending this simply awesome festival (organiser Paul Spencer is surely a Carlsberg drinker…..) is the opportunity to discover our new favourite music. Yes of course there are plenty of top notch artistes here operating within this genre that we all love, but there are just as many unsung heroes that are new names, and to us that’s surely one of the salient points of “non-commercial” festivals such as Maverick.
