A Totally Acoustic Performance in the Upstairs Room of The Square Tower
Well what can we say about the unique and ever-so-slightly madcap genius songwriter and performer that is Gerry Colvin?
For those of you that have seen him with his former band ColvinQuarmby, or indeed his rare solo shows (of which we’ve been privileged to promote 2 of them – both selling out!), then of course you’ll know exactly what you get when you come to one of his shows.
For those that haven’t – songwriting of extraordinary proportions with incisive lyrics that will one moment have you clutching your sides with laughter, whilst the next holding back the tears. Between-song banter that would grace any comedy night allied to a strong back catalogue of songs that he will have you singing along to in no time.
He will be performing a selection of songs from his mightily impressive back catalogue, which includes 5 ColvinQuarmby albums, 1 solo album and some choice cuts from his Terry n Gerry days!
For this unique “house concert” in the upstairs room of the Square Tower, it will be completely acoustic and therefore will be up close and personal and we have to limit numbers to 32 people only. This will mean of course that tickets will be in demand and this show WILL sell out so we really would recommend that you buy your tickets sooner rather than later.
Tickets will only be available online (via the WeGotTickets link above), or by e-mailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve, and tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis to be fair to all that want them. You will not be able to buy tickets for this show via our usual high street outlets (sorry folks!).
What the critics are saying…..
“Gerry Colvin is a writer of great substance who is able to give us something that has been largely missing in English Music for a long time. His subjects and characters are clearly defined and his songs create strong images and stories which can make us both laugh and cry in the same breath. This band is unique and unforgettable. The songs are brilliant. They should be a household name. Go see them!” (Phil Beer, Show of Hands)
“Chirpier than a bucketful of Trill. More hooks than a fisherman’s convention” (Folk On Tap)
“Wildly entertaining and off the wall in the best possible way. English eccentricity is alive and well!” (Folk On The Moor)
“Your complete set was just something else, in fact words cannot do it justice. I was laughing so much I had tears rolling down my cheeks and dripping into Customers pints! It was pure genius, entertaining, funny, satirical, great music, fantastic lyrics and Oh boy what a fantastic atmosphere. I have not been so entertained in many years and I will certainly be looking out for other gigs to come to and to bring others with me and I really hope you come back to Rugby really soon. Fantastic and so professional! Keep it up!” (John Tippett, Rugby Roots)
