“One of the UK’s ‘must see’ live roots acts. A discernible quality oozing from every groove. Delving into the myriad roots of Americana and British music and serving it up with an originality and respect that is as heartening as it is refreshing!” (The Guardian)
“With a line up which can generate the kind of rock family tree that used to be turned into a tv show, The Jigantics have fused the disparate talents of its members to hop between styles almost at will – but always with a touch of class!” (Stratford Herald)
Many of you will already know how great The Jigantics are, but for those that don’t, then you’re in for a real treat from this Americana / Roots “supergroup” – a real musical roots stew combining the worlds finest ingredients! And what’s more, we’re so excited that this amazing band are playing our annual Square Roots Xmas Cracker show – and boy do we need cheering up! And these boys and girls are just the band to do that!
“A high quality, highlight act who are clearly destined for great things!” (Daily Telegraph)
One of the UK Americana scenes’ most arresting new bands, The Jigantics are part of a growing group of contemporary artists appealing to a wide range of music followers who are increasingly looking beyond conventional musical stereotypes, and just enjoying a fusion of great songs, stunning harmonies and fine musicianship.
In this case its a genre defying mix of Roots, Cajun, Blues, Trad, Country and then some!
“Cajun-kissed folk-rockery eased us into a high quality selection of songs ranging from the not-a-dry-eye-in-the-house tear jerker, to the Doc Martins-to-the-floor outlaw country floor shaker. A totally awesome band who deserve all the attention and rave reviews they’re getting! (Time Out)
The Jigantics are:
Keith Thomson (vocals, guitar, bass guitar) – Keith brings a wealth of touring experience to the band having toured the length and breadth of the UK and Europe as a solo artist and with his own band. Over the years he has also released lots of incidental music for television programmes and soundtrack projects, and he has sold over 100,00 albums!
Sarah Kelly (vocals, ukelele, bass guitar) – A covert singer-songwriter, overt ukulele obsessive and eclectic song collector. Winner of the Musicians Union Instrumentalist trophy in 2017.
Mark Cole (vocals, squeezebox, harmonica, mandolin, guitar) – An irrepressible front man who seemingly is able to pick up any instrument and get an exciting noise out of it. A top vocalist, prolific collaborator and in demand international session player. Mark’s performances are always from the heart.
Martin Fitzgibbon (percussion, drums, vocals) – Marty has performed with and inf ront of some of the biggest names in the world of popular music, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Lou Redd et al, but says The Jignatics are the most exciting project he’s ever been involved with.
“A fabulous fusion of cajun, rock, folk and Americana that blew the socks off our audience. Absolute class.” (Maverick Magazine)
