“Katy Hurt comes across as an experienced head on young shoulders, and the maturity of her songwriting could easily trick you into thinking you’re listening to one of the old Nashville greats!” (RGM)
Having sold out one of our smaller shows at the Tea Tray last year, complete with a lengthy waiting list for tickets, we’re delighted to welcome Katy back to Portsmouth, but this time she’ll be bringing her full band show, and this is gonna rock the Square Tower!! And if you caught Katy and Gabz at that show then you’ll know how great this going to be!
Monger, Music Blogger, to say “Hurts voice takes Dolly Parton’s twang and Beth Ditto’s soul, wraps it all up in a basket with a bow before setting fire to it and leaving it on your door step!”.
Katy Hurt is one of those rare talents that can write and perform with equal impact. Her 2019 single “Revved Up” prompted Roland
Maverick Magazine gave “Unfinished Business”, Katy’s self released EP which produced the Top 20 hit singles “Revved Up” and “Unfinished Business”, a 5 star review, noting “incredible vocals, slick guitar work, excellent rhythm and – most importantly – superb songs with raw talent seeping through each track!”.
Steeped in country roots, but never one to simply yield to the traditional Nashville sound, Katy stretches the country music genre in exciting new directions. Haunting blues vocals, towering country rock guitars can be found in live performances.
Indeed Katy toured last year with Gangstagrass, the ground breaking American band who created the unlikely bluegrass /hip-hop fusion. Last year saw Katy reform in excess of 100 shows across 2 UK tours, as well as international dates in Canada, the US and the Caribbean. Support slots for Liam Gallagher and The Bellamy Brothers demonstrate her quality and versatility.
“It beggars belief how Katy Hurt remains unsigned. You would think that record company executives would be queueing out the door for her signature!” (Building Our Own Nashville)
“Katy Hurt is one of our favourite artists and a real star of the UK scene. Having graced the Country 2 Country festival in each of the last two years, Katy is an artist at the top of her game!” (Belles & Gals)
Following firmly in the footsteps of stars like Ward Thomas and The Shires, Katy Hurt is heading right for the top – come and check her out now whilst you can still get to the front row!
