Nashville comes to Petersfield…..
We’re incredibly sad to hear that the awesome LIzanne Knott has had to pull out of our “Roots In The Round” show at Petersfield. We wish Lizanne a very speedy recovery and of course I’m sure I speak for us all, our thought are with her.
Here is Lizanne’s brief message to you all:
“So very sad to announce that due to a bit of a serious diagnoses that I was given today via routine blood work (totally blindsided) I am unable to fly to the UK to join my friends on tour. It’s a bummer for sure but I am going to undergo whatever treatment is necessary and will be back up and at it in no time! Michael and Jesse are going to absolutely ROCK no matter and I will be with them in spirit! I sincerely apologize to my friends and fans across the pond. I will see you next time around. xo”
Lizanne’s spot in the show will be taken by breakthrough UK vocalist Laura Oakes – winner of not just one, BUT 2, British Country Music Association Female Vocalist Of The Year Awards!
“Laura has one of the most powerful, exciting voices in UK Country” (Ben Earle, The Shires)
“On The Road & In The Round” – A Nashville-Style “In The Round” Concert featuring…..
Michael Logen, Laura Oakes & Jesse Terry
“Michael Logen’s work has become the soundtrack to hit television programmes including, Nashville, Parenthood and One Tree Hill…”
“Absolutely gorgeous music. We’ve rarely had as big a reaction in recent years that we’ve had for Lizanne Knott!” (Whispering Bob Harris BBC Radio 2)

Here at Square Roots, we’re delighted, and not a little chuffed either, to be able to bring you a genuinely wonderful and unique show to Petersfield with this wonderful Nashville-Style songwriters circle performance so beloved of world-famous star-making venue the Bluebird Cafe, and three of the best American singer-songwriters on the current Americana scene, Michael Logen, Lizanne Knott and Jesse Terry.
Grammy-Nominated Folk/Americana artist Michael Logen is based in Nashville, but also tours extensively throughout the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Netherlands and Denmark. He has opened for artists like John Legend, John Hiatt, Mat Kearney, Jonny Lang and India Arie and his music can be heard on NPR, BBC, VH1 and TV shows like, “Nashville”, “Suits”, “Parenthood”, “One Tree Hill” and “The Fosters”. Also a Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Songwriter, Michael’s songs have been recorded by artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Matt Kearney, Jonny Lang, Paul Carrack, The Greencards, Will Hoge, Delerium and many others.
“Michael Logen…a lyrical and melodic depth that few mainstream A-listers can match!” (Entertainment News)
“Logen is clearly a big talent…well worth your time and hard-earned money!” (Americana UK)
Laura has enjoyed live dates at some of the UK’s most prestigious festivals and support slots including The Shires and Ward Thomas. Her latest acoustic EP “Nashville Stole Your Girl” ranked number 5 in the iTunes UK Country Music Charts, receiving much critical acclaim and a session on Bob Harris’ BBC Radio 2 Country show.
2018 saw Laura return to Nashville to co-write with some of the world’s greatest songwriters including Jeff Cohen, Beth Nielson Chapman, Leslie Satcher, Ray Kennedy, Jenn Bostic, James Slater, Philip White, Mike Fiorentino, Chris Lindsey, Ketelyn Clampett, Jason Lehning and Palmer Green. She returned to the UK armed with a bundle of fabulous songs ready to perform to hungry audiences.
A true musical journeyman, New England-based singer/songwriter Jesse Terry has made it his mission to share his love of music fully and completely, without regard for shading his emotions or tempering his convictions. The ability to create a connection, to bare his soul and express his feelings through his songs has been the defining thread in a career that began in 2010 and has spawned five albums (The Runner, Empty Seat on a Plane, Stay Here With Me, and his latest pair, Stargazer and Natural). A career that has seen Terry play over a thousand shows around the world, including such notable festivals as Bonnaroo, 30A Songwriters Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival and the Americana Music Association’s AmericanaFest.
“Natural”, a very sparse and acoustic album compared to its predecessor “Stargazer”, finds Jesse relying on a more organic approach to his music, while adding an additional layer of emotional impact with the help of some of the female singers he admires most: Dar Williams, Cary Ann Hearst of Shovels & Rope, Liz Longley, Kim Richey, Annie Clements, Sarah Darling and Erin Rae.
“Jesse Terry’s ‘Stargazer’ is an album to be treasured, and is an enlightening reminder of times gone by, when albums were chock full of sparkling, inspirational songs that would just stay in your head for days on end. ‘Stargazer’ is a triumph from start to finish, and Jesse Terry can be rightfully proud of an album that should, if there is any justice, be sitting in any “Top 10 Album Of 2017” lists that you care to mention!” (FATEA Magazine)
“Once in a very blue moon a musician casts such a spell with a song that the audience hesitates to applaud for fear of breaking it. Such was the case last night when Jesse Terry played Don McLean’s “Vincent” with the Wairarapa stars shining bright outside our windows – the silence when he finished was a moment of performance magic!” (No Depression)
