Here at Square Roots towers, we’re very excited indeed to announce a show with a bit of a difference! We have the brilliant Pete Gow (frontman of beloved alt-country / americana band Case Hardin) and his full 9 piece band INCLUDING a 5 piece string section! How awesome is this going to sound in the Square Tower? Very, is the answer!! And as if that weren’t enough, we have support from the amazing Lucas & King!!
Pete will be touring his sensational debut solo album on Clubhouse Records, “Here, There’s No Sirens”, which has been released to massive critical acclaim in ALL circles. It truly is a magnificent piece of work, and further enhances Pete’s reputation as one of the UK’s finest songwriters. Gow delivers an album rich in songwriting prowess and full of evocative imagery. A storyteller at heart, Pete conjures up a modern day classic that entwines itself around your heart whilst penetrating the soul, underlining his reputation whilst stretching the band confines into new pastures. Awash with strings and piano, “Here There’s No Sirens” is undoubtably Gow’s boldest endeavour yet, but one that provides arguably his greatest triumph.
“A remarkable record, engendering, in varying proportions, elements of beauty, discomfort, empathy and guilt. Something for everyone then!” (Folk Radio UK)
For this tour, Pete has put together a band of “Clubhouse All Stars”, featuring Joe Bennett (piano, organ, trumpet, harmonies), Fin Kenny (drums, harmonies) and Tristan Tipping (bass), who between them have played with a who’s who of British Americana including Bennett Wilson Poole, The Dreaming Spires, Society, Austin Lucas and many more.
“This is a deeply personal and intimate set of songs with some great lyrics and astute musicianship, all recorded wonderfully and delivered with heart!” (Americana UK).
And to make the evening even more special, we’re delighted to welcome the truly exciting young duo from Southampton, Lucas & King as special guests!
Songs of exceptional craft and depth pull influences from classic folk and American roots flavours, and are delivered with the spine-tingling, unforgettable voice of Bo Lucas and perfectly judged guitar accompaniment from Hayleigh King.
“Lucas & King’s blend of roots americana and minimalist folk combines velvet-smooth vocals with charismatic fragility to spine-tingling effect!”
