“Hazy desert dreams of songs, nicely sharpened with steely-eyed guitars and Mersey-laced harmonies - a shimmering sliver of post-summer brilliance!”
We’re delighted to welcome a band that are arguably the hottest ticket on the UK Americana scene at the present time! Welcome to the mind-blowing world of The Hanging Stars!
The Hanging Stars channel the sounds of The Byrds, Big Star and The Flying Burrito Brothers with hints of Mojave 3 and The Allah Las – mainlining the dying embers of the early 70s psychedelic folk and cosmic country scenes. The band is comprised of songwriter, singer and guitarist Richard Olson, Sam Ferman on bass, Paulie Cobra on drums, Patrick Ralla on banjo, guitar, keyboards and assorted instruments, with pedal steel courtesy of Joe Harvey-Whyte.
“Swampy psychedelia that recalls the Medway Delta as much as the Mississippi - these are stars that shine as much as they hang!”
The Hanging Stars released their third album of beautifully crafted Cosmic Americana, “A New Kind of Sky”, in February 2020, winning four-star reviews from Uncut Magazine, Shindig Magazine and The Times and receiving radio play by BBC 6 Music (Gideon Coe) and BBC Radio 2 (Bob Harris). When Bob Harris played it on his BBC Radio 2 show he declared “I love this band!”.
Americana UK wrote that with “A New Kind Of Sky’ “… the band have forged a sparkling album which, on the strength of the songs and the sheer excellence of the playing, allows that it too might one day be considered a classic.”
This tour will see the Hanging Stars promoting their brand new album “Hollow Heart” - and with this new album they transcend their well earned repute as masters of a captivating meld of blissful psychedelic folk and harmony-laden cosmic country.
“An album with enough of a hazy sun-dappled charm to make the capital’s dreariest weather bearable”
